Coconut Oil

I’ll admit, coconut oil has been written to death in the last couple years.

But not without justification!

It has so many amazing uses that I don’t think people have fully grasped yet.

To be honest, most people talk about coconut oil as a tool in the kitchen.  Unfortunately, it’s best uses are outside of the kitchen as coconut oil has a smoke point of 350˚-400˚C.

What this means is that at a certain temperature, coconut oil turns into a carcinogenic, which is not something you want to be ingesting into your body.

The oils that we use in our kitchen for cooking are avocado oil (SP: 520˚C) and grapeseed oil (SP: 420˚C).

If you want to use coconut oil in the kitchen, try adding it to shakes or smoothies. (Try coconut oil, natural peanut butter, cocoa powder, a banana and almond milk in the blender for an awesome dessert smoothie you don’t have to feel guilty about!)

If you are really looking for great uses of coconut oil, look no further than your bathroom!

As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I starting rubbing coconut oil on my belly, sides and bum as a preventative measure for stretch marks.  I also have a large tattoo on my side that I hope so save as best as possible from getting stretched out!

I also use coconut oil as my night time moisturizer.  I don’t use it in the morning as I find it a bit too oily for day use but my face always feels so good in the morning after marinading in coconut oil all night!

Just remember, the best coconut oil to buy is one in a glass jar and preferably virgin and organic. It smells the best, plus you can ensure the least amount of processing!
